HTBC Enhancement Fund

The Enhancement Fund will benefit ALL HTBC riders whether or not they can contribute to the Fund.
The Enhancement Fund is a fund set up to "enhance" our sport.  It will support riders, event organizers and HTBC.  By supporting these areas, it will drive officials development, and promote our coaches as they prepare riders to compete.
The Enhancement Fund will supply every event site in BC, every year, with a consistent amount of money to use for upgrading of courses, hiring judges and TD's or other needed upgrades.  HTBC hopes this amount will be between $5,000 and $8,000 a year.  The event site that hosts the Championships will receive an additional $2,000 to pay for extra judges.  This annual fund will be given to every event course site in BC and will benefit every rider with new courses, new fences, and other site upgrades.  It enables event organizers to plan ahead to do upgrades on a regular basis.
The Enhancement Fund will also support our annual Championships, held every year for all Divisions from Starter to Preliminary.  In the past few years HTBC has worked hard to upgrade and support the Championships.  More and more riders of all ages and levels are qualifying and participating in the Championships.  As mentioned previously, each site that hosts the Championships will receive up to $2,000 to help pay for the cost of the extra judges (2 judges are needed for judging the dressage for Training and up).    The funds will provide ribbons and awards for the Championships.  It is planned that these awards will go from 1st to 8th place in all divisions.  The Championship awards will consist of prize money, gift certificates or prizes and HTBC "bucks".  The HTBC "bucks" will be able to be used for any HTBC related event, including entry fees, membership fees, clinic fees, etc...  Riders who receive the HTBC "bucks" have one year (from Championship to Championship) to "spend" them. If a rider qualifies for the Championships, but has not paid into the Enhancement Fund, that rider will still ride in the Championships, and will still receive all of the usual ribbons and prizes from the event organizers, but will not be eligible for any of the Enhancement Fund Travel Funds or any extra awards and prizes which will be given out at the AGM. The Championships will be moved around the province to new locations each year: 1 Island site, 1 Interior site and 1 or 2 Coast sites on alternative years.  It is planned that the Enhancement Fund will fund every rider who qualifies and enters the Championships with a "travel fund" to help finance their travel to the Championships.  .
It is important to note that contribution to the Enhancement Fund is VOLUNTARY.  It is hoped that many, if not all riders voluntarily participate.  The Enhancement Fund is suggested to be $300 per rider per season.  HTBC is encouraging all members to participate.  HTBC is suggesting that riders be creative in raising the money.  Suggestions for raising the funds have been: a group or stable organize a schooling show, stadium rounds or clinic, videotaping lessons, provide advertising on horse trailers or stalls of rider's local businesses, babysitting or horse sitting, providing food for a clinic or other event, etc...  The ideas are endless and do not have to always involve horses.   To encourage riders to raise more than the suggested $300, prizes (including free entries, and HTBC "bucks") will be awarded to the top three riders raising the most money for the Enhancement Fund.  The more money that is raised the more we can offer to our event organizers and riders.
Members ideas - bring them on! We need all of you to help each other to help our sport.
Riders must realize that although we pay for our entries it often just covers the cost of running the event.  It often does not provide extra funds to the organizer to upgrade their course.  The Enhancement Fund will provide the organizer with the ability to plan and improve their site every year.  HTBC also wants to provide the chance for every rider to participate in the Championships and be able to give travel funds and awards to our top riders.  HTBC hopes to make the Championships an event all riders strive to participate at.   HTBC hopes that all members can see the benefits that the Enhancement Fund can provide to our sport.

Let's do it in 2010!! Let's make our sport grow and thrive right now!
